Tengah first neighborhood centre to open at the end of Q2024
The five-story Plantation Plaza that covers more than 10,000 square meters It has 75 shops including a food court and a supermarket, along with eating and retail options as well as service.
The opening of a food court and a grocery store in Tengah’s first neighbourhood centre, Plantation Plaza at the end the second quarter in 2024 is expected to bring relief to residents who have complained about the lack of amenities in the new estate of housing and options for public transport.
March 9 announcement that the development is planned to be an all-in-one destination for residents. Additional eateries as well as shops and services will begin operations in the near future.
It is expected that the vast majority of these stores are expected to be operating by mid-2024 – about six months following the conclusion of Plantation Acres & Plantation Grange which were the first Tengah Build-To-Order project in the month of December 2023.
Plantation Plaza was timed so it could be completed at the same time four BTO precincts are located nearby in the vicinity – Plantation Grange Acres Plantation Village and Plantation Grove. This is to improve the services offered to residents of these communities.
Plantation Plaza will be completed only when a significant percentage of the residents have settled in – expected to begin in mid-2024 after the home renovations have been completed in six months after key collection to ensure business viability for retailers.
To support businesses during the first few months of tenancy, when the population of Tengah is growing, HDB will offer new tenants of shops staggered rent reductions.
Apart from the neighbourhood center, there will also be a retail street, a linear pedestrian mall with 14 restaurants and shops – linking Plantation Plaza to Blocks 127A to 126A in Plantation Village.
The pedestrian walkway will allow residents to walk from their homes directly to the Tengah Plantation station on the Jurong Region Line. This station is planned to be completed by 2029.
A green connector, known as Plantation Farmway weaves through the housing precincts and connect them to recreation facilities like playgrounds for children as well as fitness and adult corners with a multi-purpose courts and seating areas with landscaping in the area.
In April 2024 the stretch of Plantation Farmway that runs between Plantation Acres & Plantation Grange is expected to be complete.
Meanwhile, the portion of Plantation Farmway between Plantation Village and Plantation Grove will be opened by the second half of 2024.
Plantation Village was finished in the month of January 2024 while the final residential blocks in Plantation Grove will be completed in the end of the Q2 2024.
HDB has also implemented additional interim measures in order to provide residents with essential services.
Plantation Plaza will be integrated into another BTO project called Plantation Village that was completed in January 2024.
The agency has worked together with Giant and Koufu to plan their renovation plans so that they can take measurements earlier and start the fitting-out process at Plantation Plaza as soon as the temporary occupation permits are granted.
With Plantation Plaza being completed later than homes in Plantation Village,residential units first prior to catching up with the construction of amenities and facilities in the precinct.
This was due to the opinions of the majority of flat owners who wanted to begin renovations when they received their keys.
